Xena:Warrior Princess (Xena)
I bought this book for my little cousin, who is a uge fan of Xena. When it arrived he insisted on me reading it to him. Being an avid fan myself I agreed, and I think that this book does an incredible job of telling the story of Xena. It does justice to the series and the trilogy that first introduced us to Xena. He loved it and so did I.

Champions' Boxing Guide
Published in Paperback by Amer Assn for the Improvement of (June, 1997)
Authors: Stephen B. Acunto, Edward Whitman, and Claudia Acunto
Average review score:

horrible - does burn well though
complete guide to frustration. this book is far too simplified as a display to fundamental stance and punching techniques. i would recommend "the boxers start-up".

simply dreadful
This book contains almost no information. It is simply a series of photos of the author with famous boxers. I believe, but cannot be certain, that it is self-published. A total waste.

Superb Book For Beginners
Mr. Acunto has written an outstanding book on many aspects of the sport of boxing for the person who wants to start participating in the sport. It provides a solid foundation for those who want to learn the sweet science and all of its fundamental intricacies. Both the pictures and the text are quite helpful.

Statehood Quarter Collection Number 3: 2006 To 2008
Published in Unknown Binding by Golden Books Pub Co (Adult) (September, 2001)
Author: Whitman Coin Products
Average review score:

The Holes Don't Fit the Quarters!
I used the first Whitman binder for the first three years of the statehood quarters and it held the quarters pretty well. But something strange happened when they made the binders for years 4 through 7 (Vol. 2) and 8 through 10 (Vol. 3). They must have got the idea that the U.S. Mint shrunk the size of the quarter, because it is almost impossible to fit the quarters in the slots. All have to be raised up on an end to fit snugly, but it looks awful. That didn't work for me, so I have found another binder that does a better job. It's hard to believe the leading coin book maker missed the boat on this one.

Statehood Quarters#2
I am very unhappy with the new Statehood Quarter #2 book. I purchased 2 and wasted my money. The quarters do not fit in the slots that were made for them. The slots are way too small. I had to manually enlarge the slot in order to use the books.

Great starter coin board.
A great way to start your coin collection . I highly recommend this to everyone.

Alex, the Kid With AIDS (An Albert Whitman Prairie Book)
Published in School & Library Binding by Albert Whitman & Co (January, 1991)
Authors: Linda Walvoord Girard, Blanche Sims, and Abby Levine
Average review score:

I ABSOLUTELY LOATHE THIS BOOK!
I love Most of Linda Girard's books, but this is the worst children's book I ever touched. It deserves a TURKEY instead of a star. It makes fun of children with AIDS. It says in this book that Alex got AIDS from a transfusion. It is no longer possible to get AIDS from blood transfusions because all donated blood is tested for HIV and AIDS. Don't waste your money on this piece of junk. Insteas buy the CD "For Our Children."

A nice story
I really enjoyed the way the author handled this issue with regards to the boy Alex, a fourth grader with AIDS. The only part of the book I found disturbing was that of how the teacher reacted to the poem that was written about her. I did not think it was right that she would not enter it into the contest because she did not like it.

Planet of the Apes
Published in Paperback by Harpercollins Juvenile Books (31 July, 2001)
Authors: Tim Burton and John Whitman
Average review score:

Not the Planet of the Apes
This has everything to do with the recent movie and nothing to do with the real book. The real book had messages that were really lost in the recent film, it was close to a modern day Gulliver's Travels, raising questions about how we treat animals, our science and our society.

This will no doubt be fairly close to the recent film, which is okay hokum. Excepting the massive holes in the plot of the recent movie... How did horses arrive on the planet? Where were the non-chimps on the station etc?

Good For The Kids
This book was written for kids who enjoyed the remake of Planet of the Apes. Grown-ups will probably not enjoy it but it was not intended for grown-ups. The book is a nice effort for the kids. The mediocre script for the movie did not leave the author of the book with much to work with. It is nice to see that a new generation of Apes has begun and I welcome the effort of the author.

Star Wars: Attack of the Clones (Mighty Chronicles)
Published in Hardcover by Chronicle Books (May, 2002)
Authors: Brandon McKinney, John Whitman, Jonathan Hales, and George Lucas
Average review score:

Halfway decent children's book
I'm not sure what I expected, but this wasn't it. The story is clear enough, but the writing style is very bland. An attempt is made at Yoda's style of speaking, but without much success. The illustrations are not quite right. There's no excitement here, either in prose or pictures.

Though it's a book for kids (my guess, ages 8-12), it seems to me the small size would put off most children.

I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone except a Star Wars completist.

Statehood Quarters Collecting Kit
Published in Hardcover by St. Martin's Press (10 December, 1999)
Authors: Whitman Coin Products and Whitman Coin Products
Average review score:

Not that great of a kit
The folder that you put the quarters into only shows one side of the quarters. For these new quarters, I wanted to be able to see both sides of the quarters. Whitman's other binder is much better.

Walking a Thin Line: Winning the Battle of Anorexia Nervosa and G Ulimia
Published in Paperback by Multnomah Publishers Inc. (June, 1985)
Authors: Pam W. Vredevelt and Joyce R. Whitman
Average review score:

Deceiving
This book, walking a thin line, doesnt have a real storie. It is a bunch of descriptions, and you always think that something may happen but nothing ever does... The book would have been better if the main rolde got annorexia nervosa and not her friend, because that is a problem and each book needs a problem, in this book there was no problem; only a girl complaining because of her weight.

The book wasnt awful but even the end wasn't marvelous and you dont feel attached to the characters as you do in other books (Molly by any other name) The book has no punch line or something, its just so incredibaly deceiving when you have 4 pages left and still no sign of any sickness. The book was quite predictable. I do not suggest this book.
Good-bye

okay I guesse!
The book wasn't all that great but it also wasn't horrible.
Basically it's about a girl who wants to lose a few pounds to get a guy to notice her.Soon her losing a fewpounds becomes an obsession and she gets to be anorexic.
This book could be a mind changer for anyone who's thinking of starving themselves but it will never become a life saver.
Not to be mean or anythig but if the author was trying to teach young girls a lesson she totally could have done better!

The Poetry of Walt Whitman
Published in Audio Download by audible.com ()
Average review score:

Warning - background music to poems
The readings seem fine, but for me they are ruined utterly by intrusive background music - some kind of modernistic tinkling on a piano, completely unrelated to the shape of the verse. Crass, insensitive - I wish I hadn't bought it!
